Cabo Roig Spain a Beautiful Resort

The Beautiful Costa Blanca Resort of Cabo Roig

Cala Capitan Cabo Roig

Without doubt one of the most popular resorts on the southern Costa Blanca, Cabo Roig is a wonderful spot for a family holiday, a short break or just a visit. Many Brits and other nationalities have also chosen to make Cabo Roig their permanent home. Its two fine sandy beaches, its excellent facilities and its handy location, all combine to make this the perfect place for your holiday.

Hi, my name is Steve and I have lived in Cabo Roig for over 10 years now (so I should know what I am talking about), I have built this website with the aim of giving you lots of information on the area including maps, weather and pictures, and also provide you with the opportunity to book some lovely holiday properties which are all close to the sea and the best of the local facilities. If you like our website then please "Like" us on Facebook using the buttons at the top or bottom of each page.

Location: You may well ask "where is Cabo Roig?", so I shall tell you. Firstly Cabo Roig is in the Comunidad de Valencia which is an autonomous region of Spain on the Mediterranean Sea, in the south-east of the country, it is in the province of Alicante (the area known to most as the Costa Blanca), and it is in the district known as the Orihuela Costa, that is the coastal area belonging to the inland town of Orihuela. Cabo Roig is about 49 miles (79 kilometres) from the city of Alicante which is a drive of about an hour, Alicante Airport is a little closer and the distance from Cabo Roig is 32 miles that is around a 45 minute drive. There is however an airport which is nearer to Cabo Roig and that is San Javier airport, though unfortunately this may close in the near future as a new airport serving Murcia has been built at Corvera (a similar distance away as Alicante). San Javier airport is just 20-25 minutes drive from Cabo Roig making it very handy for accessing the resort.

If you are hiring a car or driving to Cabo Roig the easiest road of access is the N-332 which passes right through the resort, if you are driving a distance you might use the AP7 motorway in which case you can get off at either Junction 763 (La Zenia) if you are coming from the north (ie: Alicante Airport), or Junction 768 (Dehesa de Campoamor) if you are coming from the south (ie: San Javier/Murcia Airport). View our map to see these junctions and roads.

Swimming Safety Flags in Cabo Roig

Cabo Roig Beaches: The resort has two main beaches at Cala Capitan (see picture above left) and Cala Caleta (Playa Goleta pictured below), both are sandy and have beach bars with sun loungers and parasols, there are also toilets (portaloos) on both beaches during the main holiday season. During busy times you will find lifeguards on duty, but at all times abide by the spanish swimming safety flags: A green flag means it is safe to swim, a yellow flag means you can swim with caution, a red flag means NO SWIMMING.

Cabo Roig Marina

Cabo Roig Marina (Club Nautico) is situated next to the beach in Cala Caleta normally considered to be Cabo Roig's main beach (though it is smaller than the one at Cala Capitan), the marina and yacht club has mooring places for in excess of two hundred boats and you will see plenty of activity in and out of this small marina.

Cabo Roig Strip: The most popular place to head in the evenings is the busy Cabo Roig strip which is situated along both sides of the N-332 road in the Aguamarina area of the resort (between Cabo Roig and Campoamor). The strip gets very busy during July and August and there is plenty going on with live entertainment, karaoke, quizzes and bingo in the various bars, pubs and restaurants. The choice of restaurants is considerable with something for all tastes, with Spanish, English and Irish restaurants sitting alongside Chinese, Italian, Indian, Mexican restaurants and more. A new fish and chip restaurant has opened for the summer of 2013 (in what used to be Listers Bar), and several other new bars and restaurants have sprung up as other have closed. Among these is one we can recommend called the Black Horse (in what was formerly Diana's), where the food is good value, plentiful and excellent quality.

Useful Stuff:

Phoning England from Spain: If you want to call England from Spain (using phone box etc), call 0044 and knock off the first zero from the area code, then add the number as usual, add money as you go (don't spend too much!). For instance the dialling code for Chester is 01244, so from Spain dial 0044 1244 + the number.
